This morning's discussion I think was just amazing. Here are some of the things that really made me think:
I love Marie's idea of, "Bringing in the voice of the people we serve" this lends to the strength of the program through authentic communication from peer to peer. I see such a huge areas were we can utilize peer contact, from one on one support to an internship program teaching/training pts how to be peers- again, not controlling for education; therefore, allowing anyone the opportunity to be a peer. This then can be linked to what Lindsay called the Recovery Diaries- which I think is such a powerful term when talking about the stories of the pts we served. these stories can surface throughout the programs as orientation or successes.
Rudy mentioned several great things I love and what stood out is how we utilize the classroom space and how we set the foundation for more training and more empowerment to build skills, add value to yourself and them move to employment that will be kept long term. I also liked the idea of Podcast, in this case, the great men and women that are used for Podcast will be pts that have gotten jobs, pts who have seen positive shifts in their lives and the workers who are assisting them in recognizing the Power of Possible.

I appreciate your comments, Valerie. I was intrigued by one of your own posts that talked about exploring ways for participants to mentor one another. It sounds like a great springboard for people moving towards more formal kinds of peer provided services. Thanks for sharing!
